Riverside's leadership consists of our Senior Pastor, Rick Watt; Leadership Council (composed of lay leaders); and a Board of Trustees (who have oversight over church financial matters).
Senior Pastor Rick and Marsha Watt
“Although I still have a passion for youth and music, my special call at this point in my life is in preaching. I enjoy equipping the saints for ministry, creative outreach ministries, and caring ministry to the flock. I love to preach and teach in a way that the ideas and scriptures soon belong to the listeners, students, or leaders. The look of “I’ve got it” in their eyes brings joy and fulfillment to me. Their testimonies and growth are a constant encouragement. I have a great excitement and God-given call to minister to those who don’t like or are disinterested in church.”
Pastor Rick was raised in Kittanning, Pennsylvania in the country, but also for a time in town. Both a country and a city boy, he loves the woods and outdoor activities, preaching, playing guitar, and singing. He comes to us from Sarasota, Florida where he served the Meadowland Worship Center for 15 years as senior pastor. Pastor Rick’s sermons are filled with illustrations and humor as he helps us to laugh at ourselves, understand God’s truths in a practical way, and adore and serve our God.
Marsha hails from Sylacauga, Alabama. She’s an avid Alabama University fan and has a lot of fun bantering with those in our church who cheer for other teams. She’s an accomplished pianist and a terrific teacher of adult and children’s classes. Marsha teaches fourth grade at Falmouth Elementary School, has a degree in Christian Education and a degree and a Masters in Elementary Education.
Pastor Rick and Marsha met at Warner University and have been married for 33 years, having served in ministry in Dewey, Oklahoma, Tampa, Florida, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Boca Raton, Florida, and Sarasota, Florida. They have raised two sons, Chris (28) and Philip (24 and married to Jenna). Both sons live in Sarasota.
Pastor Rick and Marsha enjoy people and are not afraid to reach out while in public. They have found Riverside to be a church of warm and devoted people who enjoy having fun and caring for one another. The two are excited about Riverside and our growth as we pursue God’s goals to encourage one another as we reach out to impact the world around us for Jesus.
