In our series on God’s Transformation, we studied the complete transformation of Paul from a persecutor of Christians to a missionary for Christ. As we began our present series, “Exploring Philippians”, we studied the city of Philippi, in which this church was planted, and the culture and reaction of the people there. Most became persecutors of Paul and the Church, but some accepted Jesus. This week we will study the response of Christians to Paul as a minister for Christ and one who claimed to be an apostle. We will find that there were many questions that followed Paul, making his ministry more difficult, so that not only did he face external persecution from the world, but actual difficulty from within the churches. Philippi will be the refreshing departure from those difficulties, but the lessons to be learned can help us to avoid problems as we take forward the message of Christ.
