Real Freedom

Philippians 2:5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Although nobody likes others telling us what to do, we actually have the freedom to choose who we will serve and obey. Many times those who are slaves to sin, don’t really realize it. There are so many things (drugs, alcohol, power, money) that we can seek to accumulate that take over our lives and we need to realize that we can become slaves to those things. Satan wants us to serve him, but he seeks to devour us in the process. God desires that we serve Him, while He works all things for our good and loves us so much that He allowed His Son to die for us.

As we study this week, the message will clarify the fact that we ARE going to serve someone, but that we can choose to serve someone wonderful who actually does more for us than we do for Him. In the process, we will learn to serve others in the same way.
