Cross Examination

When we examine ourselves by human standards, we can find that we are being logical and practical. We may find that we look good in our own eyes and the eyes of our friends, but how are we doing in the eyes of God. Being spiritual is more than being nice, or being sincere, or thinking we are right. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that we talk the talk and sound spiritual. I’m saying we measure by our walk and not just by our talk. The tone, the attitude, and the fruit coming forth from us are God’s way of measuring whether we are in the faith or not.
Matthew 26 tells us to TAKE UP OUR CROSS AND FOLLOW HIM. Part of the self-examination of whether we are where God wants us to be, whether we’re saying what God wants us to say, and whether we’re doing what God wants us to do is to examine whether we have truly laid aside “self” and taken up His cross.

As we begin a new year, it’s the perfect time for a “Cross Examination”. IN order to reach His goal and achieve His purpose, we need to know our starting point. Where do we stand in God’s eyes right now?

This series will deal with the preparation and the journey through 2018 as we seek to be His ambassadors and ministers.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine YOURSELVES to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

When You’re Being Stoned

In this message, we find a Spirit-filled, energetic, and evangelistic man named Stephen who is not shy about sharing his faith.

Acts 6:8 NIV Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as…

A Stone’s Throw Away

Can you imagine the appearance of the woman whom the Pharisees and Scribes caught in the act of adultery? In your mind, are her clothes disheveled? Have they dragged her there, so that she is covered with dirt from the road? Is her face streamed with tears? Are her eyes filled with terror? They are…

A Vision to Live and Share

Having a vision and living a vision are not the same thing. A vision in our mind that we are not pursuing is an illusion. It’s like all those times we said, “Someday I’m going to…” Until we have the picture in our mind of what success in our pursuit will look like, until we…

The One Thing

In our scripture for this week’s message, Jesus is speaking from the book of Revelation to Christians who are “losing their fire”. He is not condemning them, but calling them to repentance. He even uses the words “turn back to me”. It’s possible in our Christian life to “drift” into behaviors, and attitudes, and allow…

Chapter four of Paul’s letter to the Ephesian Church is one of the most compelling epistles in the Bible. In this chapter, Paul makes it clear that each person within the church has a purpose in ministry. He instructs pastors and teachers and reminds them of what their job is. He also reminds everyone of…

The Limits of Our Love

A man asked Jesus, one day, how he could know he had eternal life.

Luke 10:26 “What is written in the Law?” he (Jesus) replied. “How do you read it?”27 He (the teacher of the law) answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your…
