Being Children of God

1 John 3:1 See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Much of the Bible is reminding us of who we are and what God expects from us, but John is doing something else here. He is reminding us of how blessed we are. In fact, he uses the word “lavished” when he talks about how great our Father’s love is toward us. He reminds them (and us) that we are the children of God. Of all creation, we have the special-place in God’s heart. Only we are made in His image. Only we are the ones God sent His own Son to rescue and give eternal live. Only we have audience with Him for that salvation. No other creation and no one who has not received His son… will ever see heaven… but we will.

I am 63 and can no longer run fast. I have physical challenges, but I can still get around. I can’t sing well anymore, but I have a voice to preach and share the gospel. Most of all, I am a child of God. I will never see hell. I have a reservation to be with Christ for eternity. No matter what comes up against me in the world, I’m not restricted to this world. I have a better place to go. Having acknowledged that, I have a choice to enjoy being a child of God or focus on the “other stuff” that I pass-through on my way to heaven.

Have you sought and found the realization of being a child of God in this universe? This message will help you to do that.
