There are those who insist that the United States is not a Christian nation. They declare that we are a “free” nation, but loyal to no one religion or God. They make up their own doctrines and many who profess to be Christians go right along with it. How can we be a Christian and not believe and practice what Jesus taught? If Christians won’t be true to the word, then perhaps this road ends where God cannot recognize us a a nation “under God”.
1 John 1:6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
Our nation is walking in shadows to say the least. The national morality declares that moral behaviors and beliefs are not under God’s authority, but under what “seems right” to them. Here’s what God told His people so long ago, and it has not changed.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Now take that scripture apart and ask, what if we won’t be called by Your name, won’t humble ourselves and pray, won’t seek Your face, and won’t turn from our wicked ways?
This Memorial Day message will remind us of where our blessings came from and where they will go to if God’s people don’t make a stand.
