John 7:18 NIV Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory, but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.
If I man shares something that he believes to be true, but finds he was incorrect, was he lying? Truth is a pursuit during our entire life. So long as we don’t know “everything”, there is the possibility of being wrong. People sometimes distort the truth or tell something that is true, but not the whole truth. When part of the truth is presented as being the whole truth, the result is a lie. Sometimes it appears that the question of truth is the matter of our “intent” to be honest or to deceive.
This Sunday, we will explore our lifelong pursuit of God’s truth. Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life. He called the Holy Spirit the Spirit of Truth. The world’s values and their ideas of what is true continue to change, but God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His word says He does not want us to be ignorant. He desires that we walk in truth.
Are you satisfied with as much as you know? Do you always think you are right? Is it possible that you are deceived? Are you living in the constant pursuit of God’s truth?
