“but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence” – 1st Peter 3:15 NASB
A little boy and his big brother were walking home from school when the big brother was suddenly attacked by the school bully. The bully had the big brother on the ground and was about to shower him with punches when a rock hit the bully in the back of the head. The bully began to cry and ran home. The rock came from the little brother, defending his bigger and stronger big brother.
Listening to that story, is there ever a time when our invincible God needs us to take a stand for Him; to defend Him? The scripture above says there is a time to stand up for whom we believe and what we believe. Jesus is stronger than we are… stronger than anyone, except where His reputation is concerned. Just like you and I can’t control what people may say about us to someone who doesn’t know us, Jesus is often criticized and belittled by people who don’t really know Him, and others who are without an opinion can form one because of what they hear. Who is going to “make a defense”?
Are we prepared to stand up for Jesus?
