The Forbidden Fruit Tree

Sin is attractive. If all sin seemed ugly and gross, it would be easier to avoid. Truth is, like a big juicy apple on a tree looks juicy and sweet, sin can look the same. But we’re never a victim of temptation. Temptation can’t force us to do something. We are victims of our own choice.

Sin is contagious. Just like fruit provides the seed for more fruit, sin provides inspiration for more sin. The serpent brought forward a suggestion, Eve succumbed. Eve brought Adam a suggestion and he chose to give in.

Sin is deadly. Sin pays! It gives temporary pleasure and long-term pain. The wages? According to the Bible, the wages are death. The fringe benefits are guilt and other consequences.

Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
