God of Action

I recently went to the “God Is Not Dead” movie and was really moved by the presentation. It showed a young man who was not ashamed to stand up for his belief in God, even at great personal risk. When the world sees a Christian like that, it cannot help but be affirmed that he is motivated by a God who doesn’t just “stand there” and watch the world go by. When Jesus rose from the grave and then ascended into the sky, His actions and miracles did not stop. His doubting and depressed followers had to decide if they believed and would carry out the mission. God went into action and so did they. The church exploded with growth as people found new life in Jesus. Join us as we explore the early chapters of the book of Acts to see that our God is a “God of Action.”

When Christians Disagree

Acts 15:36-41 Saul and Barnabus were friends and partners in ministry in the early church. They agreed in doctrine and were well-matched in passion for the mission to reach others for Christ. One day they found that they had what the scriptures call a “sharp disagreement” about a young man whom Barnabus wanted to take…

God Can Use Anyone

Acts 9:1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest 2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem.…

Face Of An Angel

Acts 7:8 Now Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people. 9 Opposition arose, however, from members of the Synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called)—Jews of Cyrene and Alexandria as well as the provinces of Cilicia and Asia—who began to argue with Stephen. 10…

GOD’S PLAN FOR A CHURCH’S MINISTRY

Acts 6:1 “In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.”

It didn’t take long before the early church experienced discontent and stress between the members. Perhaps the Bible should have…

What To Do When Persecution Comes

Acts 4:1 The priests and the captain of the temple guard and the Sadducees came up to Peter and John while they were speaking to the people. 2 They were greatly disturbed because the apostles were teaching the people, proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. 3 They seized Peter and John and, because…

Creating a Church

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give…

What is this Holy Spirit ?

Acts 1: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

If God asked you, “would you like to be closer to Me?” would you answer immediately, “yes”?

Hurry Up and Wait

Acts 1:4 On one occasion, while he (Jesus) was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.”

What is waiting? Does it mean that we are expectant that something good or something bad is coming?

Waiting…
