Identity Crisis

“Identity Crisis” deals with the birth and growth of the Church in Ephesus. If you think about it, they were born when a group of 12 men accepted Christ. There were no books on Church planting and none on Church growth. They didn’t even have the New Testament as written scripture. They were among the first groups of believers who were brought together in faith and family. No model in sight. We’ll look at some of their struggles and questions from the perspective of new Christians, totally inexperienced, and wanting to be all that God wants them to be.

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark…

The Honor of Serving

Ephesians 6:5 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. 6 Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. 7 Serve wholeheartedly, as if…

Christ In Marriage

EPHESIANS 5:21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should…

Children of Light

Ephesians 5:8  For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather…

Imitating God

Ephesians 5:1 “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

A lot of us have already tried to “act like God”. The problem is that we are not actors… at least we’re not…

CHOOSING YOUR FAMILY

Ephesians 4:14 “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming.”

I remember when I was a little child, the most insulting thing you could say to…

MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEW

Ephesians 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the…
