In our state parks, there are signs that say, “Please Don’t Feed the Bears”. When people feed the bears, the bears gain confidence and lose their fear of humans. Then they become pests and dangers as they become more aggressive toward humans.
Perhaps we should cross out the “B”in that sign and place an “F” there, so that the sign we need is “Please Don’t Feed the Fears”. As we feed our fears with worry and imagination, those fears aggressively take over our lives.
What are you afraid of? Is it high places, dentists, dogs, lizards, closed places, financial turmoil, rejection, failure? The list goes on and on, but God does not want you to live in fear.
2 Timothy 1:6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
If fear doesn’t come from God, then where does it come from? Yes, it is from Satan. Fear debilitates and steals our joy. In fear, each day can be approached without confidence, so that life becomes a constant terror. Think about it. That is NOT God’s will for you. He desires that you live in power, love, and a sound mind.
This message will help you to break those chains of fear and realize that as God’s child, you live in His protection and encouragement. He has a mission for you to accomplish and, though Jesus acknowledges that trials will come, He overcomes trials and fears, teaching you to become a conqueror.
